The Concours will feature the duPont automobile marque and several of the 30 known American classics will be presented.
“The Miracles of Science” company got its spark as a gunpowder mill some 200 years ago. It published an entire brochure on the merits of “Farming with Dynamite” touting the practical benefits of using dynamite to clear the land and accelerate farm production.
DuPont’s involvement in the auto industry started in 1914. Pierre S. du Pont purchased $25M in General Motors stock and helped establish GM as the #1 automobile manufacturer in the world. From the 20s onward, DuPont Company developed many of the industrialized materials we use everyday—nylon, teflon, parachutes, Tyvek—even body armor Kevlar worn by police and military.
